Yinka Akanbi

Let's take the fight to the streets. I siezed these sour harvest of pirated copies of October 1st from the hawkers. Please don't forget to turn the siezed copies upside down.

  • Adeyemi Oginni The boys, too, need to be seized, chained down and interrogated for retrieving of necessary information. The assistance of the authority is highly required here. Good job on your part, oga Yinka.
  • Semoore Badejo Where can we get the original copies to buy?
  • Yinka Akanbi The film is not released yet
  • Adeyemi Oginni ...and the pirated copies are in public already!? God help this Country o.
  • Dotun Taylor There is an urgent need for a strong fraternity to rise out of the film industry that will match this principality called Piracy sword for sword, blood for blood and guns for guns. For we wrestle not just one, just two or three well connected instituti
    • ons. Oju boro ko gbomo lowo ekuro...I have in my possession copies of October 1st that I personally seized between Maryland and Ogba today. The boys were ready to run the moment one starts engaging them in questions. There is no pity for the boy hawker. They are all in the chain of thieves. DT Wed, 15 Apr 2015 5:00:07 PM.

    • Abayomi Abiodun Akeem Opakunle Haba, kilode? God go punish dem weluwelu. Yes, EPE.... (apologies to Lagbaja). Eternal curse on all of them & generations.
    • Seyi Fasuyi When these actions continue, the authorities would be forced to act. I'm on the lookout too for these culprits
    • Adeyemi Oyewo Thats great bro.
    • Onyekaba Cornel-Best I GUESS WE SHOULD ALL SEE THIS AS AN ALL OUT WAR...LET THE OCTOBER 1 ANTI PIRATE WAR BE THE BEGINNING OF A TOTAL WAR AGAINST PIRACY IN NIGERIA....PLEASE FEEL PROUD TO POST AND SHARE WHENEVER YOU APPREHEND THE HAWKERS....BUT THE MAIN CATCH IS STILL OUT THERE AND WE NEED THE FILM OWNER TO HELP US OUT IN TERMS OF AT WHAT POINT DID THE FILM ESCAPE THEIR CUSTODY?
    • John Sonayon Oni So sad these copies are everywhere.
    • Ajibike Babatunde Yinka, well done. It's so,so sad what these alaba guys do to reap where they have not sown.
    • Bisi Eretan You will not believe that I saw occupants in two Toyota Camry buying these pirated copies yesterday on Ikorodu Road. Some of the so called elites of the society are the main patrons!
    • Olanrewaju Fatoba my sentiments exactly, Bisi. When there are no patrons there will be no sales. Sad to say that in as much as we would prefer to buy #100 cds and dvds, piracy will thrive.
    • Olawale Obadeyi Down with all those saboteurs !
    • Iroja Oluwafemi Solomon Great job for the fight against piracy et al. However, to really tackle this problem, we must go to the root. Suffice it to say that most of the hawkers of the pirated movies and musicals are not nonentities like some people will have us believe, instead they are products of a Soviet where the government can not provide employment. Let me ask us how many of us think they would rather be running inside traffic come rain come shine all in the name of selling some nonsense home videos. So let's start by asking the government, WHERE ARE THE JOBS!!
Secondly, few years ago I visited a friend around Oregun in Ikeja, Lagos. While strolling, he showed me a high fenced building which looks to me to be uninhabited but he said activities in this place starts from 8pm to 6am. He said they only receive cash in this place and no matter the number of copies you want to do, as far as your money is ready, you'll get it before dawn. He further a big politician in Nigeria owns the place. So we can all see how difficult it will be to fight the powers that militate against our industry. To win this war, I believe we need to be consistent in our advocacy, take the fight to the national assembly, state assemblies, police headquarters, TV and radio stations, newspapers. We must get organised not as PMAN or AGN or any of those but as JUST CONTENT OWNERS! THIS WAR IS WINNABLE but the effort has to be concerted. God bless the movers and shakers of our creative industry.
